jwealleans
There is an account of this but I can't put my hands on it just now. The loco was 4446 and it happened on December 28th 1938. There are instances of C1s taking over 17 coach expresses and keeping or beating time, so 7 shouldn't have taxed it unduly. Whether the weather had any impact is harder to say, given the time of year. 1
