Multigauge
Evening experienced people of DCC, I have a 2nd hand Hornby 08 which I want to chip, but I can't work out what sort I need. Ideally I'd like to fit a TTS module, but they appear to be like hen's teeth so will make do with just getting it running without sound. Any idea which if I need a 6 or 8 pin decoder? Cheers M

Pete the Elaner
If you want to fit a speaker too, it may be worth considering removing the socket & hard wiring. I did this with mine but I also fitted a small stay-alive capacitor. Take the body off first & assess it for yourself.
meatloaf
i use the small gaugemaster decoder thats on a harness dcc92. TTS fits without any mods, the speaker slides into s slot in the nose end and the decoder sits flat on top of the motor. RAF96
Early XS suffix sound models were 21-pin, later models are all 8-pin. As stated fitting sound is easy if you use the correct size speaker to fit in the radiator end.
