RMweb Premium 7013 Posted June 22, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 22, 2010 Had a short visit to Didcot yesterday, just passing the station when I heard a distinctive LMS whistle and just got a glimpse of what looked like an 8F or Black 5 behind a Cl37. Can anyone fill me in as to what I saw?
Ed-farms
Black 5 44871, going from Southall to Crewe. Not sure which 37 it was but the times for this run were on http://www.uksteam.info so it ties in nicely with what you saw
RMweb Premium 7013 Posted June 22, 2010 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 22, 2010 Cheers Ed-farms, interestingly my attention was drawn to the loco by the distinctive LMS whistle, at the same time a London bound HST was stopping at the station. My wife not seeing the Black 5 commented. 'Brakes sound a bit rough on that HST.' She travels on them frequently and would be aware of any 'different' sounds but not a LMS whistle!
