Train nut
I have just purchased one of these which I am running on my DC test layout prior to fitting a decoder. Upon removing the body I noticed that there are two LEDs in the cab, however they do not illuminate on DC power regardless of the position of the switch for day/ night running. At this point the Hornby blanking plug had not been touched. Installing a DCC Concepts decoder the cab lights still do not illuminate. Has anyone else notices the cab lights working? Hope I don’t have a faulty model. Tim
gary_lner
Hi Tim it looks like you Nedd a 21 pin with a certain amount of functions. Dave at Dean Park Station found that the following decoders worked. Bachmann 36-557 decoder Dapol imperium 8 function decoder Dapol imperium mtc 6 function decoder. Hope that helps. Train nut
Hi Gary I had expected than the cab light would function on DC using the Hornby supplied blanking plug. I have subsequently tried a Bachmann and Zimo decoder, no luck.
RAF96
You need a 6-function decoder. There should be an addendum to the blurb telling of that.
rencar12
RAF96 - Thanks for your reply on the Hornby Forums. I didn't want to post a link to a rival product, but please could you confirm if this would be suitable: https://www.Dapol.co.uk/collections/imperium-decoders/products/imperium-1-21-pin-6-function-decoder?variant=43341526597855 There seemed to be an Imperium7 and I couldn't see what the difference was!
