All-new Southern Railway CCT/PMV Utility Van, updated Class 45 'Peak' and a new batch of Class 52 'Westerns' unveiled to coincide with Gauge O Guild Guildex 2022 event on September 3/4.

Guildex 2022 – New O gauge Announcements!

September 3rd/4th sees the return of the Gauge O Guild’s Guildex event at its new venue in Stafford. We’re attending with a display of current projects, pre-production prototypes and more. We hope to see you there.

To celebrate the return of Guildex after a three-year break, we’re announcing a trio of superb new O gauge projects for release in 2023/24. Firstly, in response to customer demand there will be a new batch of our ever-popular Class 52 ‘Western’ C-C diesel. Artwork for the rerun has been approved and we expect to receive factory decorated samples shortly, ahead of their release in early-2023. Suggested Retail Price is £619 (£639 factory weathered)

Also much requested is our second new item; a fully revised and updated Class 45 ‘Peak’ with sealed beam nose ends, plug-and-play DCC interface and improved lighting features. The models will be available as steam heat Class 45/0 and Electric Heat Class 45/1 variants, the latter with the option of HI headlights for late-1980s modellers (OO models shown below).

First samples are due shortly  and we expect these models to be released in Q3 2023. Standard features include an XL decoder interface, space for a large speaker and smoke unit, twin motors/flywheels, independently switchable cab, tail and headlights and superb fine detail throughout.

Slightly later than promised, and sadly too late to be displayed at Guildex this weekend, the first EP samples of the new O gauge Class 45s have arrived in Denmark today. And yes, we know the HI headlight on the nose end is wonky! It will be fitted with more care on future samples.

Suggested Retail Price is £629 (£649 weathered editions).

Finally, our third new item expands our range of O gauge rolling stock with two classic Southern Railway vehicles that enjoyed eight decades of service. The closely related SR Parcels & Miscellaneous Van (PMV) – also known as a Passenger Luggage Van or PLV - and Covered Carriage Truck (CCT) can trace their origins back to the South Eastern & Chatham Railway, but construction continued until the early-1950s with BR.

As the prototype was built across numerous batches with even planked bodies and doors, uneven planked bodies and doors and plywood body panels, our model is being designed to depict a wide range of variations across the fleet. It will appeal to Southern and BR era modellers with a timespan reaching from the 1920s to the 2000s. And, as the real things reached every corner of the BR network, almost every
layout will be able to find a home for these versatile and distinctive utility vans.

Suggested Retail Price will be £249 (£269 weathered editions).

1171 was built in 1935 and 2372 in 1931 so both would have carried 'Maunsell' green livery from new and MIGHT have received malachite green before ( or into ) nationalisation ............ can ALL MANUFACTURERS please specify WHICH 'Southern Green' is intended when announcing new models  - Thanks.

Indeed - but with today's market where things are often made in penny numbers, things can be sold out before artists impressions or decorated samples appear.

I am 100% confident a SR van at these prices isnt going to sell out in advance!

#9155 BR Gulf Red PMV ADS4 (even planks) ERA 6/7/8

Strange description. ADS4 was a breakdown van and survived in the enamel red used for ex passenger rolling stock in breakdown trains until c1964 when yellow replaced the enamel red. Gulf red is quite a different colour.

One of those difficult to understand finishes on an item of rolling stock. The red is in remarkably good condition and the writing is all in rail alphabet which post dates both red enamel and gulf red. There is no sign of earlier writing which would be expected if this was the original paint job from 1953.
