Hopefully this will be corrected but the brakes look to be the wrong way round on the direct crank side. Moving the lever down would pull the brakes further away from the wheels?

Did you miss the first pivot point?
 

Red - pull down and L/h end swings up

 

Blue - crank turns anti-clockwise 

 

Yellow - pushes brakes on.

no, by direct crank i meant the other side. The brakes are the same orientation on both sides rather than mirrored.

Ah yes, they’ve probably used the same moulding. Hopefully just the wrong part fitted in the paint samples. 
Might be worth emailing them to check?
