RateTheFreight
Hi all, Whilst appreciating that 08’s could likely be found at major Scottish depots & freight terminals, how far north did the class reach during the BR green/blue era? Is the record of the furthest north an 08 has worked? thanks in advance. g
clachnaharry
08's have been and still are present at Inverness. They may have visited Elgin, which is further north, but I have seen no photographic evidence of that. I have also never seen evidence of any on the Far North Line.
RMweb Premium 65179 Posted November 23, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2022 The 1971 entry on this page of the Derby Sulzers site seems to refer to the end of the Inverness Class 08 turn at Elgin: https://www.derbysulzers.com/inverness.html Simon
RMweb Gold TravisM Posted November 23, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 23, 2022 I think this has been asked in a earlier thread and like others have said, Elgin seems to have been the furthest north a Class 08 has traveled. Can you imagine how soul destroying it might have been to have driven one up to say Georgemas!
