RMweb Premium Popular Post 92912 Posted February 27, 2023 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) Priory Park is another accidental side project that I started a couple of years ago with some considerable help from my girlfriend. It's purely a bit of fun and not meant to represent reality (although it has been inspired by the exchange sidings at Minffordd and a layout on RMwebb called Aberllyn) I haven't got a track plan but the first picture hopefully shows the basic idea, there are 4 separate areas, area 1 top right will be a junction station, area 2 bottom right is an exchange siding with a standard gauge line, area 3 bottom left will be a scenic area and area 4 top left is the standard gauge fiddle yard. I had hoped that it would fit on a 4'x2' board but I had to extend it to 62"x2'. So far I've concentrated on the exchange sidings and now that section is beginning to look presentable I have started this thread with a few pictures showing progress. RMweb Premium 92912 Posted June 14, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2023 I've made a start on the scenic corner which is bit of a change for me as I seem to prefer industrial filth. This is Kingspan insulation covered with plaster

RMweb Premium 92912 Posted June 24, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 24, 2023 (edited) Bit more done in the cutting. Two sections have been made removable to allow for photos Edited June 24, 2023 by 92912 13
RMweb Premium 92912 Posted June 30, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 30, 2023 When I built the railway I had to squeeze the track onto the available space which meant the track ran along the edge of the board which caused a couple of problems, their was no foreground for pictures and a big risk of trains going overboard so I've added a 30mm baton on the front to ease these issues

RMweb Premium 92912 Posted July 15, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 15, 2023 (edited) Holidays and work have prevented any progress but a little Hunslet has finally arrived (I'd realised a supplier was offering to fit a DCC chip for less than the price of the chip but had to wait until one was available) it runs well but will probably need a tender for some extra pickups and like the rest of the 009 locos needs a good weathering 😀 Edited July 15, 2023 by 92912

TT100 Diesels
Just like to say, fantastic modelling on this thread. The scenics / ground cover / hard landscaping / hillsides are superbly realistic. That's not saying the weathering etc on the stock is not, but its the former that really pops to my eyes. I only came across this work via your outstanding picture of a tank loco on the realistic modelling thread. Clearly some very nice stuff tucked away in "narrow gauge".

RMweb Premium 92912 Posted October 20, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) We've made a bit of progress with the skyscape, a painted strip of hardboard has replaced the temporary photo prints and a modified photo at the end of the layout Edited October 20, 2023 by 92912
RMweb Premium 92912 Posted October 31, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 31, 2023 The front left hand corner is a set-track corner in a rock cutting which had removable sections to allow my camera in, I've been playing with a temporary alternative drop in section with grass on on to allow a greater foreground when I'm taking photos

Thanks, my partner does the walls for me, she uses modelling clay for craft projects and we thought maybe it could be used for the walls but we couldn't make it look right so she now uses real slate cut into pieces and sticks that to the clay which is on a wood former. After is has been baked the clay sets it's ready to fix onto the railway

I’ve previously done mine quite effectively with individual bits of painted card layered up but they are a bit too thin for some types of walls.
