Do you need the check-rail or tram-rail on a dock if the ground is cobbled?

Can't remember where I read it, it might be in the ScR Sectional Appendix so I'll have a look.

Managed to have a look and although there are one-and-a-but pages of operating instructions regarding BR staff & locos etc., there is no mention of track gauge/components.

I must've read about it somewhere else though, as I remember mention of wagons running on their flanges.
