An observation about my latest purchase, Draycott Manor

Last week, I took receipt of Dapol's Draycott Manor and so far I've run it four times.

Its a lovely looking locomotive, I'm really pleased to have it.  But I need to rethink how I am storing it.

I don't keep locomotives on my layout, they live in a big stockbox , in foam trays. The box is now full.

So, Draycott Manor is still living in it's original packing. Because of the shape of the inner package, the tender sits unattached from the locomotive.

The connection between tender & locomotive is a push-fit connector, such as a pcb plug, with two conductive strips on it.

My thought is that I don't want to keep making and breaking this connection with every use, for fear of wearing the copper contacts and weaking the mechanical hold.   So I will need to find some way to make space in a stockbox in a way that does not damage the delicate bodywork.

I wish Dapol had designed the packaging so as to enable the connection to remain made.
