RMweb Gold RFS Posted April 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 20, 2023 I have a Hornby King Arthur (R2583 - 30453) whose valve gear has failed in that the eccentric rod has become detached. Can't believe I actually bought this new in 2006, but it has always run very well. Hornby say the loco is too old to be repaired, but wondered if anyone on here can advise if this is repairable - see attached. Otherwise it's off to Ebay as spares/repair etc.
33C
Loop it on with a bit of fine fusewire or remake with a sliver of printers tin or brass strip.
RMweb Gold farren Posted April 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 20, 2023 Make a small L bracket and solder it, or search eBay and save the search it will then alert you when the part is put up for auction/sale.
RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted April 20, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 20, 2023 Part number you need is X9459, not currently listed on eBay, Hornby do list it but out of stock. Personally I'd try to clear out the hole where the rivet is and use the old dressmaker's pin and solder method to repair what you have.
Fireline
If you can find the original pin on your layout, it can be glued back in.
