I only recently fitted a DCC Chip to my Class 128 and I noticed the rear Tail Lights are on all the time

Is there a way to switch just the rear tail lights off?

Sorry if this has been asked before

Is that with the light function (F0) on & off?

Do they change ends when the direction is reversed?

What decoder are you using?

Re reading my first post I could have put it better

I have a used Lenz decoder

The lights switch on/off with the F0 and they do change ends when direction is reversed.

I noticed the Cab lights also switch on/off with F1 or F2.

I would like to switch the Tail Lights off for towing a couple of vans so I have Front lights dependant by direction but no Tail Lights

Is that possible?

Have had a quick look at the Lenz Silver manual but didn't see anything there that might help.

It might just be worth trying each of the function keys in turn - with F0 on - and see if that does the trick. Other than that you might need to play around with the decoder's wiring if you can work out which wires go to the tail lights.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I've not had any dealings with Lenz decoders.

Thanks Gents,

I will not use this model - I find it irritating when a traction unit has tail lights lit between it and the train its pulling.

A wiring change is beyond my skill set.

Just put a dab of dark red/black paint over the lenses using the handle end of a paintbrush, that should do it. Alternatively, apply some black insulating tape to the inside of the body over where the lenses are.

Simples.

That seems an easy solution.

Don't think of easy things at my age
