Wow 60 years, my first visit was in August 1967 as a 13 year old, I remember a roundy roundy layout in the room which is now the stock room up the small flight of stairs.

It was my first visit to York and I remember seeing my first Deltic at  the station it was so busy and started many train spotting trips in the late 60's and early 70's.

My next visit to Monk Bar was in 1976 when I  moved to York with work I hate to think how much I've spent there over the years.

looking forward to going during the anniversary week

It’s amazing they’ve lasted so long and long may they do so, especially in prime retail territory in York.

I hope you're all going to dress like the original owner on the anniversary itself!

Don’t think Andy has ordered any cardigans.

Sorry I’m not able to get down this week for the celebrations - hope to pop in on Tuesday next after my dental appointment….

Congratulations on being a year younger than me.  Bought the train set that started me off on all this from Monk Bar in 1975 with my own Christmas money!  I have your 40th anniversary souvenir model on display, and it *doesn’t* seem like 20 years since I bought it…aaarghh.

Always a great shop with knowledgeable and friendly staff

As I'm working in York at the moment I popped in yesterday and had an interesting chat with Richard Proudman

Thanks for posting the images.  Seriously tempted by the Northern class 158.
