I pre-ordered "Welsh Pony" from Frizinghall models, better get off my backside and build that micro layout for it now :)

Got Welsh Pony and Palmerston on order from Rails, yeah, gonna definitely make part oft he Ffestiniog as my first 00-9 layout.

Does anyone know what time periods the (authentic) liveries correspond to? Eg they were brown from X to Y, red from Y to Z. I am very taken by WP, that brown is very smart

The brown livery is Welsh Pony's restoration livery, it has carried it since it returned to steam in May 2020 (lined out from October)

 

Palmerston currently carries the red livery which is a historic livery with variations on it  probably throughout it's entire life from conversion to a saddle tank in 1888 through to withdrawal in 1937. 

 

Little Giant similarly carried variations on the red livery from conversion to something similar to the form it's modelling in from late 1888 through to withdrawal in 1924.

Agreed, the brown is not an authentic historic livery unless you’re modelling the 2020s. 
 

Note that in reality Palmerston has a shorter cab than all the other small Englands - hence the lack of lining on the rear panel. It was shortened over 100 years ago to allow it round sharper curves in some yards. 
 

I’m surprised at the absence of an FR green (or bluish) livery model on the large Englands.
