Nottingham MRS Spring Show 

 

Saturday & Sunday 9 & 10 March 2024

 

Organiser: Nottingham MRS

 

Venue: St John's Church Hall, Nottingham Road, Hucknall, Notts NG15 7QNS

 

Open:

Sat 10:00 – 17:00

Sun 10:00 – 16:00

 

Admission: adults £6, accompanied under 16s free

Venue amenities: refreshments

 

Layouts 

Deepcar – 4mm scale OO gauge model of the Woodhead route in British Rail blue days, with working Overhead Line Equipment (OHLE).

Depot Lane – 4mm scale OO gauge small multi-era diesel Motive Power Depot somewhere in the UK. 

San Clemente – 3.5mm scale HO gauge late 1950s branch line in southern California.

Grimley Moor – 2mm scale N gauge modern image in Greater Manchester.

Manvers Street - 4mm scale OO gauge model of an ex-LNWR loco shed in the BR steam era

Wouldham Chalk Pit - 7mm O gauge 1970's industrial steam in Essex

Public transport - Nottingham Express Tram (NET) to Butler’s Hill tram stop

Deepcar is certainly very good, and worth seeing if you haven’t already. The trouble is, being fairly local, over those four decades I must have seen it getting on two dozen times now, and it doesn’t have the underlying “charm factor” that would make me want to see it yet again. Sorry …

Final arrangements underway for the show. I just noticed that my Wouldham's chalk pit is still listed as appearing. Unfortunately, there just wasn't space to fit it in. Instead we have a new, smaller, layout Wits End coming.

So plenty of new entrants to the hobby who haven't seen it then. I think it's only been out a two or three times in the last ten years or so, having been in store in a late member's garage. I believe the old (and occasionally smoking) Kebab van has been presented to his family, hence the new replacement kebab van:

I'm shocked that you've found a smaller layout..
