Peter Kazmierczak
Just a quickie... Did Nimbus retain its double wipers at both ends until withdrawal? Thanks.

Did Nimbus retain its double wipers at both ends until withdrawal? Thanks. There is an article in MRC for 1981 June, which includes a chart showing what type of fittings each loco had as at Summer/Autumn 1979. 55 020 is listed as out of service at Doncaster Works, with double wipers, although it doesn't mention if one end or both. Article by Peter Kazmierczak - perhaps you know him? 😁
Peter Kazmierczak
Oh...🥵 There is someone on Facebook who is convinced their picture is of Nimbus, but the featured 55 has single wipers...
RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted February 10 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 10 There is a photo by Eden Grove on Flickr taken during an open day at Doncaster Works in June 1978 with double wipers on one window and none on the other at one end and later photos of double wipers on both sides at the other end, which suggests that 55020 had double wipers at both ends when taken out of service. woodenhead
I think these show both ends: http://www.napier-chronicles.co.uk/20_30-4-79.htm http://www.napier-chronicles.co.uk/20_6-5-79.htm Which would indicate they were intact at both ends.
Peter Kazmierczak
Cheers, thanks all. Nimbus had very scruffy paintwork over/around the driver's cab window at one end, so I'd say you're all correct. Double wipers at both ends until the end...
