Dark and dismal again today, and having seen tomorrow's forecast I have cancelled golf.  I really should get on with things on the workbench. No excuses for not doing so now I have really good light available.

 

Another look at the White Rose this morning, still at 20mph, but the end of the PSR is nearly in sight.

Next of the late afternoon departures from Kings Cross is the Tees-Tyne Pullman. Silver Fox is on duty today.

 

 

 

 

Unsurprisingly, against the light shots work better when there is less of it.

with your headboards, are they Fox etched versions?  I’m thinking of a couple for mid stuff and haven’t found the Sankey Scenics ones particularly convincing, but yours look spot on.

They are CGW Tony, and many years old. I don't think they are available any more. Some of mine are getting a bit tired, and I'm thinking Fox for replacements.

The 6.15 to Grantham is waiting at the north end of Platform 6, just two cars again, and a suitable job for New England's most decrepit B1.

The East shuttle brings another Claud to Platform 6, and as usual the camera cannot ignore it.

 

 

Then it focuses on the elderly GN carriage, now in Engineer's use, and parked in its usual spot.

This morning we have a trip working from South yard to New England via the Up Main. J50 hauled, and bunker first.

 

 

DMU is waiting to go to Boston.

 

 

and J50 now a little further towards jorney's end.

Tonight, the J50 gets a close up.

 

 

and after it has crossed into the yards another 02 appears on the way to London.

The Claud waits for an opportunity to remove its empty stock, and another WD clanks along the slow.

 

 

And another plonk, which inadvertently recorded a very rare sight, an almost brand new baby Deltic with a track cleaning train.

 

 

Appalling flouting of rules, no lamp on the brake van. The loco didn't break down, but the track didn't get very well cleaned either.

Now to identify the loco and the train in my earlier posting. Duke of Rothesay is in charge of the 4.40 from Doncaster, which today has only six on, so it can't be Friday. If it was there would be twice that number, but I don't have eight loose MK1 TSOs, which would then be required. Anyway, here is the disreputable duke waiting to proceed.

Next arrival is a Leicester local, in the hands of a Spital Bridge 4F.

 

 

It has some rather nice stock behind the tender, so we will have a look at that. As you see, a modern porthole BSK at the front, but after that, three older vehicles, two of which date back to Midland Railway days.

I think he's spent short periods working on a lot of the model railways I've seen, but invariably returns to mine...

I fear that Gen. Incompetence has under his command Brigadier Bodger and Lt.Colonel Rushed Job, and they quite frequently attempt to make inroads onto my railway as well.

I find the only way to keep them under control is to have an efficient inspection regime; as in 'would I really want anyone else to see that?' and 'will that work for the next 25 years?'

An efficient inspection regime?  Hmmmm...  Not sure whether that word efficient still applies to me. If it ever did.

The 4.21 stopper from KX is seen tonight, having finished its journey behind one of the cleaner local V2s.

 

 

I have a new cunning plan. Hide the carriages in the murk, in case incompetence has struck again.
