Bandicoot
Can anyone please advise on how to ‘deconstruct’ a Lima Wagon Couvert please? I have acquired two in the standard brown, but wish to repaint these to represent the wagons of the Nord railway in 1914-1918. Any informed advice (this does not include ‘Try hitting it with a hammer’) would be very gratefully received.
Mark Saunders
Please send a phot of it but I fear that it will be one that is glued together!
Bandicoot
Mark, Photos attached. There seems to be a little play between the body and the chassis. It’s the strange sort of rivet on the underside that worries me.
Halvarras
I don't have one of these but I'd assume that the grey side vents are holding the roof on, in the same way that Lima used the glazing for the same purpose on their BR CCT / GUV and LMS 42' parcels vans. If you can press these in a little to release the roof (try one side at a time) you'll be able to look inside and hopefully figure out how to get the body off the chassis. The rivets may simply be holding the ballast weight in place.
Mark Saunders
I agree remove the roof and see what is revealed as it may reveal how to get the chassis off.
