WLJayne
Hi all, I'm modelling Webb Coal Tank in N Gauge, at the moment the body is mounted on a converted GF chassis and it's alright but not terribly prototypical which is a shame because the body I'm quite pleased with. I'm trying to find out what the true wheelbase was between the axles, but the only source I've found so far states " 7 ft. 3 ins. plus 8 ft. 3 ins. with a further 5 ft. 9 ins. to the trailing axle." However when I compare that to drawings I have - which do appear correct compared to photos - these numbers don't seem right and are too short overall. Can anyone help with this? Steamport Southport
If you don't get an answer I'll dig out the Bashers book tomorrow. Well worth having if you are modelling a Coal Tank. https://www.diandsaulbooks.co.uk/bashers-gadgets-and-mourners---the-life-and-times-of-the-lnwr-coal-tanks-by-peter-skellon---worn-dust-jacket-5544-p.asp Jason

Those figures agree with the wheelbase shown in “An illustrated history of LNWR engines” (Edward Talbot).
