I know that the class 59/2 were used in south Wales, but I'd be grateful if someone could shed some light, on the time line and if they had all been repainted from  the nice national power livery by then.

The Class 59/2s were deployed on the Port Talbot-Llanwern iron ore workings between February and August 1999 after the hire of the Mendip examples ceased. They were all in EWS by this time. They subsequently returned on Mendip aggregate workings to Machen in later years.

59204 did visit South Wales in National Power livery for its naming at Aberthaw in November 1996, complete with a full set of hoppers.

Whilst firmly post National Power, the 59/2s also have worked off Margam in EWS and DB colours, working the Murco oil trains from Robeston. When not needed for this, they also turned up on steel trains, particularly the trips between Llanwern and Margam.
