Jenny Emily
After many years of avoiding such things and preferring to wait for rtr offerings, I took the plunge and did a conversion on two 08s to make a class 13 using NIU models parts. It was much easier than I was expecting and has certainly made me re-evaluate the ability to do such things in the future. It took maybe a day and a half over a weekend, and I’m pleased with the end result. Full build video: 9
NiuModels Posted Wednesday at 17:14 Share Posted Wednesday at 17:14 It's a lovely video jenny and shows how easy the Class 13 conversation is with our kit. Maybe we can temp you with a Class 08 Snowplough conversion next? https://niumodels.co.uk/ols/products/niu2032a-br-class-08-snowplough-batch-1-conversion-kit
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted Wednesday at 17:40 RMweb Premium Share Posted Wednesday at 17:40 I made a class 13 from two Lima 08s when I was still at school. To help with the running I wired the pickups from the slave unit to the motor on the master unit. Not perfect but It looked OK and ran OK.
andyman7 Posted Wednesday at 17:47 Share Posted Wednesday at 17:47 The problem with using the Lima one as a donor was that it has the extra bodyside cabinets on the solebar - a shame because they are a lot cheaper than carving up Bachmann or Hornby Superdetail 08s! Moderators AY Mod Posted Wednesday at 17:51 Moderators Share Posted Wednesday at 17:51 Did any of them have mixed crests/arrows? I didn't think the slaves had any, or numbers.

You're right. I'll have to play the 'after my time' card. 1

And i also wonder, did the slave units get swaped around at any time ?
dave75
The only swop round there's evidence of was the slave unit being moved from one end t'other.
