Doesn't look like there's much to choose between them.

Brake rigging on the bogie of the EFE,but you can't see that unless the train derails!

The bodyside ribbing on the EFE looks a bit finer (this could, be lighting mind you) and the bogies seem to have a bit more finesse generally (I'm not fussed about the brake rigging either) then there's the little square plates which don't appear on the Heljan model.

Not a lot in it, but if I had to pick one it would be the EFE.

I went for the Heljan because it was slightly cheaper.  I think it appeared slightly earlier too.

I've still got a couple of kits that I need to finish, though they won't be as good.

The Heljan blue and grey version have the squares with a changeover lever.

 

 

@spamcan61 Ah I remember now, they are only on one side. The Heljan maroon ones have them on the other side, as seen on the underneath view.

Look more closely at the left hand side of Heljan version has a silver variation. & EFE smaller in black.
