The bodyside ribbing on the EFE looks a bit finer (this could, be lighting mind you) and the bogies seem to have a bit more finesse generally (I'm not fussed about the brake rigging either) then there's the little square plates which don't appear on the Heljan model.

Not a lot in it, but if I had to pick one it would be the EFE.

The Heljan blue and grey version have the squares with a changeover lever.

@spamcan61 Ah I remember now, they are only on one side. The Heljan maroon ones have them on the other side, as seen on the underneath view.

Not a lot in it, but if I had to pick one it would be the EFE.

Look more closely at the left hand side of Heljan version has a silver variation. & EFE smaller in black.
