grahame
I'm scratch building an N gauge coaling tower based on the Hornby one. There have been plenty of pics in the mags and on here except one of the top. What sort of roof is on the very top section? Is it just a flat bit of concrete flush with the sides or something more complex. I'd be grateful for a pic looking down if possible. TIA. G.

Carnforth
Mornin' Here's a couple of pics that might help. Seem to show reinforcing beams over the winch-house.It looks flat other than these.Plenty more pics, including some real close-ups, if you can use them.Have a look on google Earth too, directly above the tower. steve http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd71/carnforth/PICT0649.jpg http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd71/carnforth/PICT0657.jpg
Guest 838rapid
Have just looked at mine and yes can confirm the top of the roof is flat. Its a oblong shaped flat roof with 2 ends that stick up slightly. Looked for camera but its done a hiding trick. Hope this helps
grahame
Thanks for the replies. I decided to go a little more decorative and interesting than just a flat plan roof as it's roofs that are mainly seen in N gauge as one looks down.
