Hopefully by Oct all this bad health will be manageable or a thing of the past. Glad to see you are coming along. Hope the 40th was a good bash. Clearly Wendy is a gem. You guard dogs looks as effective as my two, they are both vying for the best sun through the window - versus most comfortable spot on the floor. Look forward to see you post - only as and when of course - don't push too hard.

Hi Jaz

Thanks for your kind comments.

Hi All

Have just been reading a thread on here which states that Class 50's were used up in Scotland around Perth. I have a couple of 50's in my stock so I think I will use on on Glen Gillie/Loch Ince/Bridge of Muir. It would make a change to have a blue engine in stead of all green ones.

I don't know if they ever got to around the West side of Scotland, any comments from the members.

Hi All

This is a plea for help. One of the operators has dropped out of a show  and we need some help to operate Glen Gillie & Loch Inch.

The show is the exhibition at Quorn & Woodhouse on the Great Central Railway in association with The Soar Valley Model Railway Club. It is a long show going down on the Thursday the 19th June and coming back on Monday the 23rd June. We have accommodation booked for the four nights. The transport down will be in a van already hired.

If any one can help I would be most grateful so just PM me.

Thank you

Peter.

Hi Peter, I should be able to help out one day if if your stuck, I was supposed to be there with Glen Roy but its sold.

I will be operating Deesdale Road one of my old layouts on at least one of the days.

EDIT = I wont need transport or Hotel unless its a spare room that will save me traveling.

Hi Peter

Have you asked all your other club members, not one of the of the other club members can help you....?  Have you asked all of them...!?!

How many people do you need to help...?

Hope you and Wendy are both keeping and not over doing to much as your health is not good.

You have my number, if you want to talk...

Yes those that do not have health problems are all booked on other jobs or with their own layouts at shows. We just need one person that is all.

Nice to hear other members layouts are making a show at exhibitions to Peter, makes sense to give other club members a chance to exhibit there own layouts to.

This will be your first outing since your health issues, so hope all goes well, Its harder... I know having chronic end stage health issues myself for the past 15 years what its like to attend these exhibitions that I have done with you over time, its not easy, and tiring with not much energy, as you may find.

From a club point of view, you will get more invites I guess, which is good news for you.

Hi All

Well I have made a start on building the point work for the station on Bridge of Muir This section is from the main line into the goods yard side. There will be other point work going of the other side into a wood/timber collecting yard. At each end of the station will be a Y point that splits the track around the central platform which at one end will have the signal box. I have still not made my mind up over access to the platform. A under pass or a footbridge. The main station building may well be the model I made in the 70,s of Kyle of Lochalsh station  but cutting it down in length a little.

Hi Jamie

They are for Glen Gillie and Bridge of Muir but at present will stay DC untill after the June show when Glen gillie will be converted to DCC. Bridge Of Muir will be DCC form the start. Could do with you doing the track plan for me?

Cheers

Hi All

Well just arrived 5 new engines for the layout. 3 x  class 27's and 2 x class 26's. Have been needing these for some time so have taken the plunge and obtained.

Hi Peter, really nice, there such good runners, I had SWD sound ones on Glen Roy, I sold the Sound fitted 26 on here a few weeks ago and I still have the sound 27.

Best thing i ever did :declare: just bit more of these though £££££ :locomotive:  :sungum:

cheers neil..

Hi Neil

Am still not fully convinced on the steam sounds. Have over last 12 months been checking most of the steam engine sounds for engines that I have. Some are very good like 8F I heard and Black 5 but heard a 9F and to me it was just awful so still undecided on what to do although they are improving all the time. Diesels I feel are excellent and it will be the diesel fleet that will have the sound fitted first with just a few steamers.

At present am relying on Rays help to fit the decoders into the engines and also the operation of them. Its an uphill learning curve after spending the last 50 years just twiddling a knob and putting section switches down, but will get there in the end. I still prefer the building of the layouts and like to leave the operating to all my friends.

Hi Peter, for Steam sounds I now use Locolines in Essex, Check them out on You Tube, but dont waste your time with the Web Site, they have a good selection and most are 28 Functions, I have the Super D, 3F and 4F.

For Diesels I now use Legomanbiffo as recommended by Jamie.

P.S. Regards to Wendy and Bertie. :sungum:

Hi Peter

stick to what your are good at and like doing the most... modelling, and leave the dcc side and running of to all your friend to run... that way all of you do what you like to do most.

  • 4 weeks later...

Glad to see you are well enough to not only continue with the layouts, but consider new stuff - regardless of whether you do or not - it's nice to see you are planning. Shall look forward to seeing more pictures in due course.

Hint hint 7APT7.........
