trains12
Hi All Here is a shot of the foot bridge that is being made for the halt on the extension. The idea for the bridge and the scene in general is based on that of Loch Awe station in Scotland where there is a small halt that severs the hotel above it of the hill side. This location has always fascinated me since seeing a film with Kirk Douglass in 1971 called To Catch a Spy At that time the station was closed from 1965 but it has since reopened nearby is the ruin of the castle. What I have done is place the ruined castle on the hill side and a Monastery based loosely on Inchcolm Abbey in the Firth of Forth on a small island it being connected to the mainland by a small bridge. tender
That's a fine looking footbridge Peter. I'll try and get over this weekend you're around. I might stick the new exhibition layout baseboards in the car to see if they fit. Ray.

7APT7
Hi All Here are some more of the Class 70... RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted May 23, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 23, 2012 My thoughts and comments are that this is a very fine layout, and the Class 70 is a very good modern model of a contemporary prototype. I just feel they don't fit together very well! Eras are eras, and crossing them takes a bit of, shall we say, sleight of hand. Rather like Shakespeare in modern dress, it takes some doing!
7APT7
Hi All Thanks for your thoughts interesting... I agree the class 70 is a bit like Marmite and that is the type of loco I think it will always be... These are the last of the class 70 Photos I have taken, so those who dislike the class 70 will be over the moon... Comments Welcome again and Thanks for those that have left their thoughts & Comments... Regards Jamie Edited May 23, 2012 by 7APT7
Andrew P
Great pics again Jamie BUT please, please stop showing that 70, Its tempting me to go astray again. Hopefully meet you at Bakewell. All the best to Pete and Co, see you all soon Andy.
7APT7
Hi Andy It was Peter's Class 70... as you know he is more of a Steam Buff or it that Chuff...lol But I must admit it ran really smoothly straight from the box no having to finger push it to start it off, unlike the Hornby Loco's... I just want to get my Class 70's out now, interestingly I wonder what the Bachmann 70002 Sound will be like, as I have only seen them stationary and not moving... I could always get as HOWES SOUND... Tempting... Jamie

Hi Olddudders I agree with you over the Class 70. Normally it would not be running on the layout but on this occasion we had altered some of the electrics to enable a better operation of the station approach from the line behind the distillery and I needed an engine to test it and the class 70 was to hand and had not been run before. The main era's for the layout are the steam/green desiel period and the era from 2000 to date but for this era I have not got any moderen passenger stock so at present we are operating in the early time scale It could be that one day the Class 70 will make an offical appearence but it is sometime off yet. Thanks for your commemnts about the layout on the whole. Much appreciated. Peter

7APT7
Hi Ray I believe it is the Bakewell Model Show, Peter only mentioned it in passing conversation talking about how I want my Layout to look and planning for that... but I believe Peter was still waiting for details of the show to confirm what Layouts are needed...etc, He was not 100% sure at the time...
