I all

A few shots of the next building under consruction for the extenstion. This is a small of shore light house that are used in Scotland around the lochs and will be near the small harbur/landing stage. This one is based on one atThe Calf of Eday. It started life with a few bits of tubing and this is the state of build after about 5 hours of fiddling. Hope you enjoy this.

Cheers

Hi all

The layout is packed and ready for loading into the trailer tomorrow for its journey to Hartlepool show. Hope to see many of you there, please introduce yourselves.

The extension to the layout is under way with the lighthouse having been now painted, just needs a few more details adding to it. Still have not decided whether to coat the abbey in Daz and hand carve the stone or use plasticard.

Any comments from you out there most welcome.

Cheers

Peter

Hi All

Well I have not been doing much on the layouts in the last two weeks, have been catching up on other work. The layout ran well at the show apart from a few bent couplings due to running into the end board in the fiddle yard . There is a blind spot and unless you use the extension lead for the hand held ( which we forgot to pack) you cannot see the end. Hench the bent couplings.I all so did not take any photos, but Jamie did, But his dad has been in hospital so he has not had the time to down load them (Am glad to say his dad is on doing well and is out of hospital now)

Anyway here is two shots of the drawings for the warehouse and Port office with the HM Coastguards little watch tower on the end. This is to go on the extension with the harbour. Sorry they are not to clear.

Hi Andy

Spoke with Ben the other month, He does not think that he will have room for the new extension part of the layout this year. But if I have it finished I may well take it anyway and hope that it can be squeezed in. At present have started on the covering of the Abbey and the building of the harbour warehouse and HM coastguards lookout. Will take some shots and post them.

Cheers

Hi All

Today I have started the baseboards for the extension. There are made form 9mm ply and show the step, the top being the track level and the bottom will be the water level of the loch. I have just glued the tops on so will take a few shots of that and post tomorrow.

Hi All

Well here are some shots of the building of the new harbour buildings that are being made for the extension. The main carcase is foam board with Salters embossed plastic held by double side tape to give the appearance of stone.

Jamie has is new laptop now so I hope that he will load some of the shots that he took at Hartlepool. In the mean time work is carrying on, on the other buildings for the extension. I hope that by this weekend will have the main two boards completed with the legs an will be making a start on track laying and the cutting of the poly blocks for the scenic contours and the making of the small harbour base.

Cheers Peter

Hi All

Continue of Thursday's Progress after marking down where the Track Line will run...

post-5212-0-08495600-1345159950_thumb.jpg

Using Tracing Paper, Score the OutLine of the Track about 1-2" away from the Track Edge

post-5212-0-74884600-1345159957_thumb.jpg

Then Transfer it to the Polly Board

post-5212-0-61356500-1345159964_thumb.jpg

Cut through the Board following the Scored Line

post-5212-0-74399300-1345159988_thumb.jpg

Then should all take shape as it follows the curve of the Track, Yet to be laid...

Any Question, Peter will Answer them i'm sure...

Comments also welcome...

Hi all

After looking at the layout last night and the positioning of the buildings and harbour I felt the distance between the harbour, the beacon light and the abbey was too cramped.

The result is a third 4' section of scenery has been added and this will give a more uncluttered appearance. The new base board was started last night and should be finished and bolted to the layout by lunch time today.

Only problem at present is have run out of cork, that is ordered today so will concentrate on getting a lot of the poly scenery glued and carved and the buildings done until cork arrives.

No doubt Jamie will keep us all updated with photos.

Cheers

Peter
