RallyRob16
Hi, Just wondering if anyone can help with this.............. I've just taken the lid off one of Bachmann's later release 158's (00) and found what appears to be a pair of resistors on top of the motor. Each one is positioned between the motor terminals and the pick up leads. I have measured across the leads and found them to only be 1.2 ohms. Does anyone know why they are there? The older release models don't have them! Cheers Rob
RMweb Premium mezzoman253 Posted August 27, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 27, 2010 They could possibly be Radio frequency chokes(RFC's) part of the interference supression components. As 1.2 ohms is a very small resistor value. Rob

I'm installing a DCC decoder into the model so I'll do my usual thing and remove everything!!! Rob

Rob It is not unusual to fit one or two chokes plus a number of capacitors in a network to reduce radio interferrence. In any event you would probably want to remove them if you are fitting DCC.
