meil
Wrong, lighting circuits can be wired "loop in " method were the live and neutral supply run from one light fitting to the other, this is a common wiring method that usually confuses the DIYer who wrongly thinks all wires of the same colour go together. steve No lights are star wired. Yes they loop from light fitting to light fitting but they don't return on themselves to make a ring. They are wired as one long spur (or two probably - upstairs and down stairs)

The house is wired with two lighting rings, one upstairs and one downstairs. This is done so that if the lighting circuit trips at night half of the house still has lights, the hall and stairs on one circuit and the bedrooms and landings on another, thus avoiding a deadly situation of someone falling downstairs in the dark trying to get to the consumer unit on the ground floor to reset an MCB.
