Come to think of it, I thought I saw one go through Wood Green in the '60's, but I could be wrong.....

Edit: Is it me but are there shades of an A4 sound in there?

Wood Green perhaps, but it might have had problems with Peterborough before rebuilding! :P

As for the sound - a three-cylinder with Gresley conjugated motion - sounds like an A4 - is that a surprise? :D

I can always test out Peterborough. I'll give Gilbert of Peterborough North fame a ring and see what can be arranged.....:)

I'd love to see the pictures!:P

Morning all, sunshine with clouds scudding by. I am feeling a bit short of breath this morning, I might have done too much yesterday. That loco moves really smoothly Gordon I can see why you fancied one.

Morning all.

I don't think any big locomotives will be arriving here today but I am waiting for a parcel. My MiL said chopping vegetables hurts her hands so we have ordered a small food processor for her birthday.

All the parcels I was expecting arrived yesterday (apart from the one OO gauge one, which arrived last Thursday)... Yesterday's parcels included a cd and a Fraggle.

Morning all. Sorry to hear about Smudgeloco too.

Rather grey day in Edinburgh. Have to go to the garage before work to pay them for (part of?) a new exhaust. Mine disappeared somewhere en route from Durham to Glasgow at the weekend.

[edit] Just watched Gordon's video - that's some length of train that loco's pulling - very impressive!

Morning All, Bright one hereabouts. Is retail therapy for bad backs available on the NHS Gordon or did you have to go private? What is this "alarming clock" thing that some speak of?

Have a good one all.

Cheers

Dave

I see the Dark Side has beckoned once more to Gordon.............

So I was sitting peaceably watching TV last night, a rather soft program about "Hawking's Paradox" (on loss of information Universewide) when my Wife comes in and announces she has a punctured tyre. "I know dear", I say "I'm going to get it fixed for you tomorrow" - NO she said this is a new puncture. So I go and have a look and there is a 1/4lb piece of metal stuck in the driver side front, ouch! The other puncture is on the Passenger side , front, which is a slowie but this new one looks irrepairable......Last month I had to replace all my tyres on my car. So I can change the wheel on the drivers side and pump up the one on the passenger and hope I can get to STS in time, oh, it's raining too, of course.

I tell you our family have magnets refitted to our cars.

Best, Pete.

Morning all - just surfaced after a cruddy night on call - roll on Friday.

Watched that video of the US thing - not sure it sounded too much like a steam loco (my pet peeve!) but at least it had some sort of 3 cyl beat, which is ok at low speed but when the gear is pulled up the beat evens out.

I sometimes wish I wasn't involved with 12"/ft steam locos, then I might develop some sort of affection for these steam outline models with sound - I have no love for them at the moment :(

Pete, I feel for you... After my car troubles only a couple of weeks ago and losing the exhaust on Saturday (£260), I've now been told my sump pan needs replacing (£200 part plus £100 labour as they have to remove the cat to get at it) and it needs a new timing belt (another £300 job as to get at the timing belt you have to take the engine out).

Given the age of the car (12) I'm beginning to think it might be time to consign it to the great scrapheap in the sky...

That was my reason for trading in the Scenic last year. There were a number of things that by mileage or age needed doing. Also we were planning a motoring holiday and I didn't really want to go in a car that may need its clutch doing. Don't expect too much money on a trade in though!

The Beastie has arrived and it looks great. Very clever piece of engineering to articulate the chassis to go down to 22" radius curves, but I suspect I will permanently lock mine. Haven't fired it up yet, but impressed so far....

Both holes were too close to the sidewalls for comfort so I replaced two tyres (or tires in US speak).

I was hoping that the puncture I had (last December) in an almost new tyre could be fixed but it too was in the sidewall. As I'd replaced them all not too long before the tyre dealer sold it for the same price as the discounted price I'd got for all four (as a result of some gentle haggling). Fortunately this part of South Essex has quite a few tyre dealers who are keen to compete on price and who has the best technology. Was the price you quoted for one tyre or two? I've nearly always fitted Michelins to our cars but the Land Rover had Continental tyres as originally so I replaced it with the identical type.

Evening All (who remembers that one?)

Cracking day at work - NOT, and just managed to get caught up -

Gordon, I understand the online activity - I know that when I was laid up, it was exactly the same, buying stuff online - TV, DVD recorder, lots of guitar accessories, and a couple of locos, so I do know the feeling.

Pete that's an ouch as far as the cost of the tires is concerned - are they gold plated? Or is is that your car is something special? I doubt that Kwik Fit online could get to you in NY, but I guess you could try! LOL

Unlikely to be on parade tomorrow as dog is due back at the specialist vet again at ten, and will not be back until about five, so some hairy M6 driving is likely.

Dinner's nearly ready so

Regards to All

Stewart

Tony, That was for both tires (tyres) with $50.00 discount - 'cos I'm a regular customer (man, that sucks). Stewart: This is for a Nissan Murano, it does have an unusual size (bigger than Car smaller than Truck) and they were the only tires to fit in stock......

Beautiful loco, Gordon! Do those MTH run on regular DCC?

Best, Pete.

Evenin' all.

Got a call at lunchtime - "Hello Moo, y'know you've got an appointment to have a tooth out tomorrow morning? Well, we're gonna have to cancel it."

Helpful. I'd booked the whole day off work and arranged a bunch of other stuff in the afternoon.

My day off is now Friday instead, and the other stuff has been rearranged to suit, but that was quite irritating.

I wasn't too sure what a Murano was but when I looked the Nissan UK advert suggests it is "urbanproof"!

I got £400 off my four but I will always now be a regular customer!

That's not exactly cheap! But it does look good.

Those prices are in $. The $ exchange rate is around $1.60 = £1, so the UK price was £332.

I agree it's at the high end of the market, but nowhere near as bad as it first appears.
