Allegheny1600
Hi sde, Glad to hear it's going well, hope it continues for you! sde
Hi all, Well its getting together. I have been busy with the cab and engine casing. Had to use to bars and G clamps to bend the casing, it worked well for me. This kit is an easy build, just clean up the cut off tabs when you remove the parts. Everything goes together spot on, been thinking about what type of power pickups to use. I have used Slater's plunger type before but I am thinking of making a set of wire wipe pick ups. anyway will post more photos late this week. Cheers sde
jazz
looks a nice kit, you are doing a grand job there. I have not had the pleasure of building any of their kits, yet. I do like that protype, so maybe one will appear at the Pen y Cwm goods sidings.
sde
Hi all, Been doing some more on the loco the last 2 days. First thing I did was to turn around the side cabs (had them back to front) Have test fitted the wheels placed some extra details in the cab area and finished off the engine hood. I have decided not to use the cast under frame air tanks, I have used some brass tube from my scrap box. Will be fitting spring buffers, will also have to file off at least half the thickness on the centre bearings to make room for the motor gearbox. sde
Ressaldar
Hi SDE, looking very neat and tidy, very tempting as well! What motor/gearbox is recommended/are you going to use? regards Mike
sde
Hi Mike, Motor, Mashima 18x33 and Branchlines 40:1 gear set. But you can put other makes of motors and gearbox's, they give you a GA drawing to 7mm scale so you can use that to find what will fit in. regards SDE
Ressaldar
Hi SDE, thanks for the prompt reply - nice to see that you get a scale drawing with the kit, something that I have been advocating for too long now. regards Mike
sde
Hi all, A few more photos of my loco. The loco is very close to being finished, just door hand rails, engine hood panels need handles and finishing of the brake gear. I didn't have any issues with the kit, everything fitted the way it was meant to. regards sde
jazz
Nice job sde. May I presume to suggest adding a control desk between those prominent levers? Does not have to be grand affair, just acouple of dials and a lever each side. With the crew added it would look great.
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted November 11, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 11, 2010 There is no control desk in this loco, what you see is all there is, in fact I don't think there were that many gauges originally - probably just one air pressure gauge. Looks a very good job, glad to hear that you had no problems with it. Michael Edge Judith Edge kits
Willy
What a super little loco and you have made a great job of what looks like a very well designed kit. I am looking for a small shunter so I will give this kit serious consideration. Cheers Willy.

ahardy
These early Hunslets really did have huge cabs. We often quip that you could hold a dance in the cab of our "John Alcock".
Willy
I would like to try this kit but I am having difficulty contacting them! I want to email first and ask about postage rates to France and there is a a "send mail" link at the bottom of their web page. However, when I click on that I get another window with a warning about "UNSOLICITED COMMERCIAL E-MAILS (UCE)" and another "send mail" link! Also at the top of this page there is a line saying "You can check 15 more e-mails today" but after trying unsuccessfully to send an email I see that I am now down to 12 more emails today! I know there is a phone number but I don't really want to have to phone from France! Thank you Willy
jazz
Hi Willy. The email works just fine. When you get that window, just press the EMAIL on the warning pop up. Just worked for me Ken
RMweb Premium Stevie Posted November 12, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 12, 2010 Hi don't worry about the e-mail warnings as its a course method of trying to stop span engines picking up on the e-mail address to send spam so stick with the e-mail , or I'm sure on this occasion a quick PM to the proprietor might be forgiven. By the way very nice build I hope my class3 shunter turns out as good. Steve
