Ed - a team track is a siding or spur, with a flat/gravel/boarded/paved area alongside that is used to unload rail vehicles into road transport or vice versa. Originally called because a "teamster" would drive his team of mules, pulling a cart, onto it for loading/unloading - Some back country roads with very little traffic have been used by shortlines for this purpose with a truck on the road backed up to thye open door of as boxcar with the train stopped across the crossing. Some team tracks have a raised concrete or wood platform between the track and the carts http://www.rasorranch.com/Borax/team_track.jpg
