Tim Chambers
Good news, LL, just seen weather forecast and Friday and the weekend look OK - your paddle may be on! Look forward to seeing "Long Line" again,I last saw it at the excellent Yeovilton exhibition( I think?). Shame you'll miss the SWAG festivities on Sunday though(and the Yeovil Steam Centre Modex and steamday!)

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 19, 2011 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 19, 2011 Well I hope Mark managed to have a paddle at some stage as the weather was certainly suitable Thanks to all who visited it looks from the first count that we had a good weekend which will hopefully get the club back on an even keel after the unpleasant suprise of last years theft from the club. Any comments would be appreciated so we can feed them back to the exhibition committee, I just do the poster and stick it on the forums I only had two brief look rounds due to losing an operator so here are just a few of the layouts on show. This is what greeted visitors outside, 1/6th scale tanks from the lads who are now demoing at Bovington tank museum. bike2steam
Great show, well organised, good crowd, did manage to have a quick browse, and quite impressed with the layouts, of course Dunvant was my own personal favourite, but there again I'm biased . In amongst all the chat, and meeting up with familiar faces, I did manage to get on with about an hours work both days. Yes Paul considering WRS's surprising major set back last year, it seems to be coping admirably, and on the weekends showing - very well too.
Long Line
Thoroughly enjoyed myself! A big thank you goes out from myself and Keith to Steve and the Wimborne crew for a most enjoyable weekend. It makes such a difference as an exhibitor; to attend events that are operated by a friendly and like minded team. Good to meet up with some old friends and make some new ones. Extra thanks go out to Wimborne members Stuart, Richard and Michael for assisting in operating. Layout and stock worked well despite a few last minute adjustments and i even found time to do some scenic improvements. Took 2hours longer to come home Monday afternoon than go down early Friday am, due to 'public' being on the roads! Sun shone all weekend on a lovely part of the country (just a shame its southern!), looking forwards to a return one day- over to you Steve! cheers Mark
RMweb Premium Ian J. Posted April 19, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2011 Couldn't make it this year due to my car being off the road, but glad to see it went well, and also good to see progress on the Wimborne layout
RWJP
As with Long Line, I too thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition. As a first time exhibitor, it was a wonderful experience, and nowhere near as daunting a prospect as I first thought! Huge thanks to the Wimborne Model Railway Society for organising such a fantastic exhibiton, and thanks of course to David for allowing me to help him operate Ring Road. Paul, as far as feedback goes, I can't think of anything that really needed to be changed, everything was organised well, help was available as and when we needed it, and the free lunch and break room for the exhibitors was a welcome touch. Definitely looking forward to the next show, regardless of whether i'm exhibiting or simply visiting.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 19, 2011 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 19, 2011 Thank you for that folks I'll pass it on. Personally I thought Steve got a nice selection (even if he is a GWR enthusiast in Southern territory, Which explains why he got rather worried about Marks Landy trouble!) Tim Chambers
Excellent exhibition, don't change anything!Nice to see RMwebbers in attendance and even managed a natter with dear old Stan Symes. What a character and still going strong!
RWJP
Personally I thought Steve got a nice selection Certainly did. One of the operators on Tan Y Bwlch actually commented on just how much of a contrast there was in Room E2, with their accurate replica of a Welsh Narrow Gauge line, and Ring Road... bmthtrains - David
A very good show I thought, and I can now see why Bournemouth doesn't have a big show - Wimborne has evidently cornered the market in this part of the world. Thanks to Ross' help on both days, it all went swimingly from an operator's point of view. Some good layouts to see, and some great feedback from the public made it a very enjoyable day (plus being able to go home each night was a bonus!). Thanks must go to Steve and the team for running such a good show, and it was nice to put names to faces on some other RMWebbers! One final thought, how many Moors Valley staff were there helping out in the end??! David
Ceptic
Truely enjoyed myself there on the Saturday. Met up with, and always good to see, some old friends, and viewed some old and new layouts.... ...Dunvant , very impressed. along with Mark's Long Line, Moonhill MPD. and those young rmwebber/whippersnappers, with their 'Ring Road'. I hadn't seen these model layouts (in the flesh) before, or quite a few others, allbe'm GWR (on SR's Turf) It's always good to see the Wimborne M.R.S. layout going from strength to strength, despite the set backs encountered. I wish them 'All the Very Best' for the future, and Many Thanks for a grand week end Cheers All.
bike2steam
A very good show I thought, and I can now see why Bournemouth doesn't have a big show - Wimborne has evidently cornered the market in this part of the world. One final thought, how many Moors Valley staff were there helping out in the end??! David Probably because unlike Wimborne, Bournemouth doesn't have a strong, vibrant railway society where many members are/ were also volunteers at Moors Valley. I used to be a member of the WRS, in the days when I had more spare time .
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted April 20, 2011 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 20, 2011 Wimborne is a railway society, therefore we are extremely lucky to have many non modeller members who help run the show doing all the door, refreshments and other jobs. Being situated where we are means a lot of members are also volunteers at Swanage or Moors Valley, time means I don't get to the Moors very much theses days. If you look at the website you'll see we have talks roughly every other week and dedicated modelling nights on Tuesday's. The Wimborne layout has bumped along for nearly 20 years now, I know because I helped build the baseboards in 1992! , and we've recently had a surge in interest from some talented modellers that has increased the small team and it's really beginning to show in the rate of progress. I hadn't seen it up recently and was very impressed with the bridge.
bmg
I echo the previous comments. A really fantastic show. Not too crowded and really friendly people. The tanks at the entrance was a nice touch. I couldn't drag my kids away from this show. Even the vintage bus ride into the town was fun. Well done to everyone concerned. A great bunch.
