More work on the second warehouse this morning, with the addition of the roofing.

This is the final bit - same technique as the other 'long blue' one - this is going to be called the 'green' one.

All it needs now is painting.

Slow progress I know, but at least there is progress.

Evening all, and welcome to IBMWeb - 'Industrial Building Modellers Web'.

I had an idea overnight of how to add some more vents, probably inspired by reading about Smithdown Road Junction in ModelRail just before going to bed (what a Rock 'n Roll lifestyle I lead).

Just (another) quick coat of paint then they're done.

After much searching (mainy by the current Mrs Beresford Junction) I found what I was looking for - some bits left over from the new kitchen used to plug the un-used pre-drilled holes. I think they look quite good, but the current Mrs Beresford Junction was somewhat underwhelmed by what I used them for - she was expecting a bit of Sunday DIY....

Evening all

A few photos of my recent visit to the model railway museum at Balbao Park, San Diego, and guess what - they not only have a helix, but a model of a real world helix at "Tehachapi Loop" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehachapi_Loop

It is a very big layout - here is the track plan, and made me feel at home as it is in the basement....

I was fascinated but was a bit disappointed by the number of trains running - i.e. not many at all. It seemed to be great modelling of mountains and track, but not operationally interesting. Having operated Leaford for the weekend at a show, the key to keeping the punters interested and engaged is having some locos / stock movements.

Anyway, very impressive and well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Phil

Oh and I did see some very impressive 'real' trains running.

I do like the way the Americans do their layouts, I wish I was brave enough to do a multi level layout..

I like the way they operate too, everything runs for a purpose and involves plenty of shunting.

Go on Phil, do it! USA layout in the basement, oh yeah!

Evening all

It appears the weather has turned for the worse and decided that rather than gather leaves in the garden (in the rain) I'd descend to Beresford Junction and crack on. I applied another coat of blue to the large building then deceided to fit some of the Knightwing fencing I bought a few years ago - quite laborious.

I've done a couple of packets and have a couple more to go.

Once it's all all install and the glue has dried, I'm planning on giving it a wash of grey paint, then add some weeds round the bottom.
