rob247
Hi everyone, Here is my layout - Trebor's Park - 00 gauge. It is built on 4 boards each 100cm x 40cm making a 140cm (4'7") square with a 2' operating space in the middle. The boards are easily handled by one person and the whole layout fits into a small car for exhibitions. One might think it would not be possible to have much on this size but with careful planning I have got a lot going on in the space available. Here are a few pics... Main station Part of the Canal section A modified scalescenes Viaduct over river Loco shed area More information and pictures will follow, Robert. Wheeltapper
Gosh you have got a lot into that small space - perhaps you should have named it "Multum in Parvo" as there is certainly not much room to add anything else . I particularly like the viaduct through the park scene which is very believeable . Some of those trees are good models are they a ready made product ? I look forward to seeing more pictures - an overall view of the complete layout would be good as well as a track plan if you have one. Good work ! rob247
Hi everyone, Thanks for the comments. I really wanted to show what is possible in a small space (Just look at the standard Hornby Trackmat which is 6' x 4'). I've seen lots of layouts much bigger than mine but with a lot less on them. I find the more to see on a layout, the more interest it gets from the public. Due to the space restrictions, the trains are 2 coaches and 4/5 wagons long headed by tank engines - keeps costs down! You may be surprised to know that it has the capacity to hold up to 9 trains on my layout! The trees were a box set bought from The model Tree shop .com. I will publish a track plan as soon as I draw one up showing what goes where, also a picture of the whole layout. Any queries, just ask, Thanks, Robert. rob247
Hi eveyone, Here is a rough track plan of my layout, didn't have much time to do it properly but it will give you an idea of the layout. I will produce a better one soon marking out all the buildings, roads, water, etc. Also here is a bird's eye view of the layout at home and one can see how it all fits in. The turntable which does work (just needs wired for reverse polarity) is actually a blank CD on its base - just the perfect size for 0-4-0 & 0-6-0 tank engines . I can run two trains at once, 1 on the continuous circuit and the other shunting in the station up to the factory (top left corner) . The fiddle yard has 3 sidings (top middle) which are approx 2 1/2 feet long. The sidings will take 4 or 5 wagons and the station run round & sidings will take 2 coaches which is the standard train lengths I use , anything longer on a layout this size wouldn't look right. The curves are Hornby 2nd radius throughout, except the curve into the goods shed (bottom left) which is 1st radius. The far side of the layout showing the fiddle yard, second station and the all important coffee cup storage area can be seen - middle right. Robert. witherbrow
i think youve done a great job in a small space really well thought out to makes me want to do something like it
RW James
Very nice layout. I especially like the cup holder - an interesting and well thought-out solution. Instead of a typical cup holder which could be a disaster if you leaned over it - this is well protected - and even if it does spill it would only hit the floor leaving the layout safe. Well done. rob247
Just scratchbuilt a loco shed with water tank to replace the old airfix/Dapol engine shed kit that I had on my layout (see prevoius photo). even that was slimmed down to fit the space available This is a heavily modified scalescenes Goods shed kit which is where all the bits came from. after placing it on the layout, I thought there's space to add a coaling stage next to it and maybe small workshop/office as well ? the shed, coaling stage & office nearly ready to glue together also added a set of steps than added a water pipe which is the live wire of a standard thick 3 core electrical wire, just need some coal dust on the coal pile placement on the layout - a perfect fit, just needs some finishing touches...... This is my first complete scratchbuilt building, sometime I might try another one.....
RMweb Premium Kris Posted February 21, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 21, 2011 The goods shed looks very nice. Is the blue water or a cover? If it is water it looks a little to bright (this might be a trick of the camera).
