RMweb Premium Downer Posted March 14, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 14, 2011 I'm thinking of converting a few Airfix corridor brakes into a non-corridor rake using Comet sides. I seem to remember that the Comet extruded roof has the BR profile, and that Steve Banks in one of his articles recommended an MJT product. Looking at the Dart/MJT website I find 3 different roofs - 2970 Aluminium roof, 2971 Aluminium roof LNER profile (in 3 lengths) and 2971L Aluminium roof elliptical profile for GWR Toplights. Can anyone tell me which of these is correct for LMS Period III coaches? I did try e-mailing Dart/MJT, but got no response. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

MikeTrice Posted March 14, 2011 Share Posted March 14, 2011 The LNER profile and GWR profile (certainly as featured in the toplights) are as far as I am aware, the same being a semi elliptical design. As you state the BR profile is different. Not certain about LMS, the drawings in LMS Coaches look to be a different profile, but the photos seem to suggest a semi elliptical might be OK.
