Glorious NSE
Stewart (now part of Bowser) made one IIRC, a very nice one as well. Bowser are gradually going through the Stewart stuff and re-issueing it all detailed up to modern standards as well.

Allegheny1600
One of my favourite US loco types! Originally only the N&W (Norfolk & Western) ordered them, built between 1965/66, they later sold them all to the C&NW (Chicago & North Western) in 1973. C&NW used them largely in Upper Michigan on heavy iron ore trains, last used in December 1986 though mostly not retired until October 1990. The majority were sold for scrap or traded in to EMD but C&NW6715, 6716, 6724 were sold to NRE in April 1990. Sorry but I don't know what happened to these, they may have been run for hire for a while longer but I doupt they lasted much longer! The C&NW wasn't known as "Cheap & Nothing Wasted" for nothing! The Bowser/Stewart model is excellent by the way! Back in the mid/late 1990's when they and the Heljan Hymek first came out, I did a comparison test between the "Best of British" (outline) and "my" brutes! Although the Hymek did well, it was trounced by the big Alco! Cheers, John E. PS If you run one in another road/livery or era etc, I won't tell if you don't! RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted May 6, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 6, 2011 I know it's slightly more C628s than you might be thinking of buying - at least at this stage - but the loco appears to be headed for the Guinness Book of Records http://www.bowser-trains.com/Wilmington%20Guinness%20Record.htm
