Will J
Hi Everyone, Here is the latest delivery from the FUD production line, my experimental N gauge Class 139. The quality of the cab print is fantastic and will appear much better in the photo when the yellow undercoat (which will suffice, as a gap in the grey, for the warning panel!) is dry... The detail along the sides was less of a success, it fell off. I should point out that this is due to a modelling error on my part rather than a fault by Shapeways. I thought the window detail, which is flat, adjoined a flat side surface of the vehicle, in fact closer inspection of the CAD original shows the side to be a little less flat than I thought, so the windows in fact had a hairline gap to the body. The printer replicated this mistake perfectly, but then it is a learning process. What I have ended up with is a smooth sided model which will be perfect for experimenting applying transfers. Just a test run really, it needs some minor amendments to the lights, and the fit around the Kato chassis.
