Motor bogie recormmendation 31mm wheelbase

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend an 00 gauge motor bogie for an underground train (Q38 stock) other than a Tenshodo with a wheelbase of 31mm please? Ideally one that sits as low as possible and does not project into the coach and can move three fairly heavy coaches. Is the Tenshodo the only very low profile option or is there another type with a Mashima or Mabuchi double-ended motor where the motor sits between the axles? Many thanks.

I don't think high level does 31mm which is why people tend to go for the spud, you may be able to get a custom Black Beetle thoug which has an improved drive http://www.motorbogies.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=163 . Hollywood Foundry does a few solutions though that could work even if the motor isn't integral to the bogie http://www.hollywoodfoundry.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=10&cat=BullAnt+Drive+Mechanisms .

Go to http://home.waterfront.net.au/~sem/bbeetle.htm and order your requirements directly from Oz - very efficient and reasonably priced service.

I quote "Available in any wheelbase from 25.5mm to 40mm, in steps of 0.25mm.

Wheel options are 9.6mm in 8 spoke or disc; 10.5mm 10 spoke or disc; 11.08mm 9 spoke; 11.6mm disc; 12mm disc; 12.25mm 12 spoke or disc and 14 mm disc. All wheels have nickel silver tyres in NMRA RP25 code 110 or code 88, or P4 wheel profiles and are available in HO/OO, EM, P4, On3, S and O gauges".

I have two, (one in each power car), of a six car Kitmaster Midland Pullman; and two more in a nearly completed Dave Alexander 10800.

Both run extremely well.

Regards,

John Isherwood.
