RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted July 5, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 5, 2012 I noticed the same pair of 20s were on the flasks today, but failed to notice they had a friend with them, so I didn't go out for their arrival - fortuantely I eventually read the TOPS lists and noticed the extra friend 05 July 2012 Saxmundham - the day the Olympic torch passed through 20309, 20312 and 37038 on 6M69, 15:42, Leiston (for Sizewell) - Willesden - nuclear flasks
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted July 12, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 12, 2012 Tuesday saw a mixed pairing - 20 + 37 I flipped up the morning shot, too busy talking to the local P.Way and when the train appeared the camera was off so only a going away shot, never mind only another 200 or so opportunities ! 10 July 2012 Saxmundham Kiln Lane 20309 and 37610, T.S (Ted) Cassady 14.5.61-6.4.08, on 6L70, TThO, 00:27, Q, Crewe Coal Yard - Leiston (for Sizewell) - flasks (FNAs 550028 and 550020) Saxmundham Station + Mill Road level crossing ("fortunately" I left my 600mm lens in the car so couldn't get a decent shot as they came off the branch, to be fair it was raining when I parked up and I didn't envisage the sun appearing !) 37610, T.S (Ted) Cassady 14.5.61-6.4.08, and 20309 on 6M69, 15:42, Leiston (for Sizewell) - Willesden - flasks (FNAs 550020 and 550028) 156409, Cromer Pier Seaside Special, on 2D86, 15:54, Ipswich - Saxmundham Thanks to the DRS team for the usual nice video ! trisonic
Well, Dave, I really like the latest series of photos - particularly the first "going away" one! Sometimes the rule of serendipity comes into play when one is limited in choices. A great set! Thank you! Best, Pete.
oggy1953
Hi, Have you any idea what route the Sizewell to Willesden takes, as i would love to see this train but i live in South East Herts and will have to work out the nearest vantage point. Also how do you know when its running ? Regards Peter.

Also how do you know when its running ? Regards Peter. Leiston -> Saxmundham -> Ipswich -> Stratford -> North London -> Willesden Sometimes the local gen group has info on the next days working, so I get advance notice but more often I get a Trust list in the morning so I can check on that for locos allocated to it, but I don't always notice the extra (see above). hth

Blacque Jacque
Great photos, thanks. One question; Do you have any pictures of the other half of this equation ? ie; the road vehicles ? On the occasions I've been in that area I've never seen any.

One question; Do you have any pictures of the other half of this equation ? ie; the road vehicles ? On the occasions I've been in that area I've never seen any. Never seen any either, and I've already had the police to the house questioning me so I'd be quite careful.
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted September 14, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 14, 2012 The "coal" is back after it's Olympic break(fast) Botany Wood (Saxmundham) level crossing (I was hoping for a bright but not sunny morning, it was, until about 1 minute before the noise of the 37 rose in the distance, then the sun came out .... 14 September 2012 37218 and 20304 on 6L70, TThO, 00:27, Q, Crewe Coal Yard - Leiston (for Sizewell) - flasks (FNAs 550057 and 550014)

The Nth Degree
How heavy is that payload? There are always 2 or 3 locos shifting it so must weigh a bit!
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted September 14, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 14, 2012 How heavy is that payload? There are always 2 or 3 locos shifting it so must weigh a bit! They run in pairs in case of failure etc - it's more efficient for them to do that instead of paying a recovery fee and the delay costs should they encounter any reliability problems.
