RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted August 21, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 21, 2011 Having spent yesterday photographing engineers trains (photos to come) I decided to take it easy and go for passenger stuff today - specifically the Britannia in black which was on a Kings Cross - Norwich working, passing my local station, Eccles Road, looking at the map I saw I could get close to the up starting signal so headed for a closed (to road, but not people / horses) crossing. 21 August 2011 Looking towards Eccles Road station (and Norwich) 170208 on a Cambridge - Norwich 158864 passes the starter, off for another East Midlands working, on a Liverpool - Norwich 158858 on a Norwich - Liverpool Lime Street Then the noise of a steam engine gradually grew louder over the noise from Snetterton until ... 70000, Britannia, on 1Z42, 10:35, London Kings Cross - Norwich I waited for the Norwich - Cambridge local 170203 obliges. before moving to Harling Road to photograph the signal box Later, after the boss had "asked" me to take her shopping in Attleborough, I returned to Eccles to get the return Steam Dreams working 158862 passes on a Liverpool - Norwich 158799 heads for Nottingham from Norwich and my old "favourite" 170203 on the Norwich - Cambridge Eventually the signal cleared and the chuff chuff of a steam engine could be heard 70000, Britannia, on 1Z43, 18:09, Norwich - London Kings Cross The Cambridge - Norwich local put in an appearance as I was leaving 170202 in charge
