David A Brit in the USA David, As Nick has already indicated, these are sound projects pre-loaded, for 1 penny, by www.Digitrains.co.uk to Zimo decoders that they sell. The range is small at the moment but is growing. It includes both steam and diesel-electric. Muli-Drive is the name coined to indicate that the decoder may contain sounds for more than one version of a loco type, or may have manual notching as an alternative to 'automatic' (linked to throttle position). The Class 37, for example, has both varieties, each user selectable with a simple CV change. It has sounds of a 37/0 un-refurbished and 37/4 refurbished PM. Each loco version has the choice of automatic or manual notching. So, four possible varieties on one decoder. Here's a good example posted by casseyjones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbzTDc3tIPI&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL The 2 cylinder steam, however, has the sounds of a light engine, heavy loaded engine which can be toggled on the move. This simulates increased 'work' at the same throttle setting. There is a third option, with a leaky seal on one cylinder, giving a slight hiss every forth exhaust beat. This is illustrated here: These projects use the feature of Zimo sound decoders to hold complete sound projects for up to 32 different loco types on one decoder (within the available memory).
