Rob Pulham
Hi George, I haven't built one but I have the ACE J52 in the to build pile..... My understanding is that the range comes from several original sources and there are some really good ones and some not so good depending on the particular kit's origins. But in all honesty I would have thought that none of them would be beyond someone of your scratch building abilities, But it depends on how much work you want to put into a kit that you have bought? georgeT
Hello Rob, you talk about my skills, l have been looking on your 7mm work bench, very nice, l have heard that the ACE kits are very basic, and the builder has to do a fair bit of work to get a half decent loco, the thing about scratch building is that you need lots of bits like domes, smoke-box doors etc, in the end it cost quite a bit, so you might as well have bought the kit in the first place (if its available), so l think l will buy the A1X and see where we go from there, thanks for your help.................
