RMweb Premium M.I.B Posted October 11, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 11, 2011 Is there an acceptable alternative to the £8+ OO guage Ratio water crane and fire dog kit? I will need 4,which makes them as expensive as a Bachman small engine. Sorry but scratch building isn't an option. No sarky comments from modern image modellers please - If I had the skills, my 2011 Challenge entry would be a scrapyard full of rusty and failed diesels and electrics being shunted in front of the cutter's torch by a nice shining steaming 0-6-0................. I think the Mike's Models one is still available (Holt Model Railways possibly??) but I'm not sure of the price

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted October 12, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 12, 2011 You might struggle to get a straight armed platform type though.
RMweb Premium M.I.B Posted October 12, 2011 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 12, 2011 Holt Models were offering a platform type one today. There was also a scratch built one on Evil bay. Mine will all be ground mounted - 3 in the shed area and one on a private siding. My first 2 rail engine (Triang 0-4-0 "Polly") from the days of flares and non decimal currency (just) needs a "home" - so there is a brewery planned which has its own shunter, which in turn has a small shed and crane. The shed will be adapted from a goods shed kit to allow it to have an internal servicing area to include bunkering. This also avoids use of the usual "Airfix" style shed. Polly should now be called "Cher" - she has had a lot of surgery both internal and external.
