GWMark
Hello all, I am looking for some prototype information for the GWR Q13 Inspection saloon. A little while back now I purchased a kit from 247 developments of the Q13 body, but there are no details with it regarding the underfloor arrangements. I was assuming I would find the detail I needed in my copy of the Russel coach book (Vol. 2), but it seems to be missing. Does anybody know where I could find some detail of the bogies and underfloor fittings for these? Thanks Mark
Guest dilbert
There are a couple of photos which should be of use (plates 580 & 581) that are in Russell's Coaching series : Appendix II. These portray vehicles in WR(BR) times. Were you looking for photos in GWR colours ?... dilbert
RMweb Premium Kris Posted October 14, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 14, 2011 There is a picture in the volume 2 appendix. This shows what appear to be 9ft pressed steel bogies. With the 3 main windows on the LH side there is a gas tank. At the RH end of the coach is there is a vacuum cylinder and associated brake gear. on the opposite side of the coach to this is a battery box. Coach bogie
One option to have a day out with a camera and tape measure. There are seven of these preserved. A phone call in advance usually provides some idication if access is possible. I recently photographed the Whitewash coach in York via a prior arrangement. A staff member was provided to escort me in the non public areas. 80972 on the Severn Valley is a working vehicle and complete in the bogie and underframe areas. 80943 Dean Forest Railway 80969/72 Severn Valley 80970 NRM York 80974 North York Moors 80975 West Somerset 80976 Rowden Mill Station (near Malvern) regards MIke Wiltshire
