Acme models......

Recommended Posts

Acme Models I think might have been a trading name of Jim Harris. Or was that Acorn? Or were they one and the same?

No, Yes and No in that order.

Jim Harris was Acorn, Acme is/was a completely different animal.

Acme is/was based in Sileby, a little way to the north of Leicester. Small retail shop with, from memory, a slightly larger store/workshop to the rear from where they sent out their gauge 0 & gauge 1 kiits and did a bit of assembly work. Had some dealings with them quite some years ago, before moving away from the area, but don't know the current position - last I heard was that the shop was only open on a very limited part-time basis.

Contact details are on UKModelShops, but haven't been updated for some time.

Thanks for replies, the one that Horsetan posted is the one.

Incidentally, searching on Google for Seven Models gives lots of modelling agencies, but, sadly, no Seven Models.

Does anyone have a contact for them?

Britannia £275 plus £8 postage

Advert also mentions that they have acquired the 'Transport Age' range designed by Jim Harris with the note that some have been upgraded and others remain 'warts and all' and 'Jim's kits make nice models, but there are some errors' 'The prices will be low to reflect the standard'

The advert in the Gazette is shared with Scorpio models which is based at a different address in Newport and again the surname is Ennis (J)
