Hobby
I've finally broken the seal and removed the etch from its bag... It'll run on an Arnold 4 wheel chassis... One of these: http://tinyurl.com/6goznae http://www.parostroj.net/vozidla/M11/M11.htm http://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorov%C3%BD_v%C5%AFz_M_11.0 Google translate does a decent job... Regrettably none left, last one seems to have disappeared in 1983...
Hobby
Further progress... The basic body and the underframe... Starting to get the hang of this soldering lark, though those steps were a bit fiddly!
pointstaken
Starting to get the hang of this soldering lark, though those steps were a bit fiddly! The underframe looks as if it was a bit (?) fiddly as well. Sooner you than me. Dennis
Hobby
It was just two pieces which folded at one end for the front and back and it had tabs which then slotted into the floor, luckily I didn't have to make up the lattice Was the easiest part! RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 25, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 25, 2011 Further progress... The basic body and the underframe... Starting to get the hang of this soldering lark, though those steps were a bit fiddly! Since this was posted a whole 2 minutes after your post saying you'd just opened the bag, I think this represents a new world record for folding and soldering brass. Take a bow! Hobby
Well I decided the roof would be permanent, the hole for the motor is big enough to allow glazing, so its soldered onto the body... Its a one piece oblong of brass with cuts into one end and fold lines etched into the back... I folded it as required then soldered the back of the fold lines and the slots and then got the file out... Some quite fiddly bits, but doesn't look too bad... Only thing left to do is the little circles of brass to "deepen" the lights... I tried to solder one and it didn't work, so out with the superglue! Hobby
I've left the railcar itself as its pretty much complete and its been requested for the 009 Society's stand at Warley in "brass" finish I've been making up the trailer car... It's the same construction so its gone together quickly... I've also made the chassis separate so that I can include an interior in the future should i want to... The second photo also shows how the roof is etched and bent together and the tabs on the body for mounting the chassis... The railcar also has that method of fitting, but because I was using an Arnold chassis which needed a bigger hole I didn't bother...
Hobby
The trailer would lend itself to conversion if someone didn't want the drivers' cab... Here's the completed pair awaiting a clean-up before being shown on the 009 stand at Warley... Just couplings to sort out, I have a pair which will suit the outer two, non-working ones, haven't decided what to use to couple them yet... I'll paint them afterwards...
