awwalker
Afternoon everyone....been quite a long time since ive asked questions on this forum so its about time i did again! Ive aquired a Dapol 00 'boxhill' terrier and im absolutly stunned at its performance. it runs slow as anything and quite smoothly. even the detailing is not that bad. I normally do scottish modelling but im tempted to do a southern for a change on the back of this model! Im only wanting a micro type layout with a couple of points and maybe only one other loco. Can anyone suggest a nice selection of precedents in 00 or a 0 gauge which i can scale down? Cheers in advance Andrew
Guest oldlugger
One of the Hayling Island branch line stations would be an obvious choice: http://www.semgonline.com/location/hayling_01.html Cheers Simon
davknigh
Terriers were to be found on most of Col. Stephen's light railways, you're spoiled for choice but you could make a start by looking here; http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mickssrsource/tpagesrs/thfstephens.html HTH David
awwalker
Cheers for the above posts guys.....really good info there. Ive never really touched on southern railways before and that last post was especially useful. Are there any layouts (i.e small scale ones) which depict terriers? ive had a look on the net and they seem to have eluded me! Andrew
ColinW
Why not try and design your trackplan for them, I have a trackplan for a 4'x2' board to incorporate a small country station and goods yard and will be predominently operated by terriers. RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 31, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31, 2011 Among the lines mentioned on that Col. Stephens link is Paddock Wood & Cranbrook, more familiarly known as the Hawkhurst Branch. It was indeed built by HF Stephens, but was worked from the start by the South Eastern Railway. The terminus at Hawkhurst merits a second look, although you'd want to thin the layout a bit. http://www.s-r-s.org.uk/html/srb/R1735.htm The line never actually used Terriers, being SER, but as an idea for a model it has some attractions. http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/h/hawkhurst/index.shtml gives a bit more background, and Googling on Hawkhurst Station will give you even more.
