muddys-blues
Hi, firstly to any mods if I have infringed any copyright laws then please delete this image, hopefully if Kevin is on this Forum I hope that he will not mind me using it as it is intended to help my modelling research. I am trying to find more images of the set up of this Ultrasonic Test train, but there are few images around, can anybody help me, I am trying to good pictures of the window and door arrangements for the 3 cars used in this set, I have looked on the archive of the Railcar Association but to no avail. Any help would be gratefully appreciated, also does anyone know of any etches that are produced to make up this train formation, Hurst Models do not do this early unit. Best regards Craig. http://web.archive.org/web/20071020143621/http://www.railcar.co.uk/pics/100-109/101/Kevin/KD0172.jpg
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 8, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2011 Hi Craig, The picture looks like 901001. Hurst do indeed do overlays for this - 977391 and 977392 are the two "tractor" cars and were used to power various test coaches, including the Mk2 High Speed Track Recording Coach 999550 - which Hurst also do. In later days they were used to power 999606 999602 and known as Ultrasonic Test Train 3 or UTU3. If you have any 3/4 or side shots, it may be possible to identify the centre vehicle. br2975
Try these for size, all taken at different times over the years, including one with the centre car. 977391 - http://www.departmentals.com/photo/977391a http://www.departmentals.com/photo/977393 http://www.departmentals.com/photo/977393 977392 - http://www.departmentals.com/photo/977392 http://www.departmentals.com/photo/977392 http://www.departmentals.com/photo/977392 977393 - http://www.departmentals.com/photo/977393 HTH Brian R

muddys-blues
Hi, many thanks for the info supplied by people on this subject, I have found another 3/4 shot which just makes out the centre car. PS I have upped all your user ratings as an appreciation. http://web.archive.o...evin/KD0171.jpg
merlin46
Hi Craig Here are the only images I ever managed to get of it. HTH Tim
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 8, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2011 Nice pics Tim, The upper two of ClassixT pics are the Mk2 HSTRC 999550, the lower shot is 975081 MENTOR, overhead line test vehicle. All the other shots, as Tim's captions are 999602, which is still with us, albeit now painted yellow and normally running with a RTOV (ex DBSO) and Mk1 generator van. Here's a pic of painted blue http://www.departmen...om/photo/999602 Here's my take on 999602 from a Replica bodyshell and comet sides - but would do it all with Replica or Bachmann next time. 977391/2 are Hurst sides on Lima shells Cheers, Mick
muddys-blues
Hi Tim, excellent pictures to help me on my project reference material, Hi Mick nice modelling I really like that, I have a few Lima 101 shells spare, also excellent picture of the centre car, from what I have read it is an EMU centre car, what class of EMU was it ? Best regards & many thanks Craig.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 8, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 8, 2011 from what I have read it is an EMU centre car, what class of EMU was it ? It's an ex 4-REP driving motor 62483. It still retains it's SR power bogies. 62482 (now 999605) is also an ultrasonic test car, but has a different arrangement of grilles/windows underframe and roof. Cheers, Mick

Cheers, Mick Hi Mick, many thanks for the modelling pics, I have a processed order from Hurst model waiting to arrive for the 101 conversions, I am on the hunt now for a suitable donor for the EMU centre coach.
