45125
Has any one got a date for this loco going into works and loosing its GYSP, it as the last 25 with one. It was around the back end of 73 early 74. It narrowly missed getting renumbered as a GYSP. The loco was renumbered Feb 74, whilst allocated to Willesden. MUTTLEY
There were TWO 25s that made it into 1974 in GSYP; 7600 and D7659. My last sighting of 7600 was on 12 Jan 1974 and D7659 on 29 Dec 1973. They were both called to works around the same time in mid - late January. Rgds, Ron. 45125
Thanks for that Muttley. That would fit in with my idea that 7600 was renumbered whilst in works. 7659 likewise. Regards Al Taylor
MUTTLEY
7600 was noted in Crewe Works, still with 7600 on the cabsides, with 25250 chalked underneath and D7659 was noted as such (only just found this out!!) on Willesden DED on 15 Feb, which makes it the last survivor. It was renumbered in April and I reckon the smart money, is on an overhaul/repaint at the same time. The THIRD to last GSYP 25, was 7647, which entered Derby Works around July/August 1973. Rgds, Ron.
