RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted November 10, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 10, 2011 I have some Trevor Charlton cast zinc coach sides for the Rhymney Railway. My son has managed to find me some suitable springs, but these coaches had two different types of J hanger which i haven't worked out how to model (4mm). See the Welsh Railways Research Circle book "Rhymney Railway drawings" pages 70 and 72. Does anyone have any idea how to go about producing these? jamieb
Without having the pictures to hand,I wouldn't know, but 5&9 Models do various parts for Victorian carriages, which although of LBSC origin, may yield something suitable.Don't forget to post some photos of the finished coach! Penrhos1920
I suspect that you'll not get anything exactly like the first design.  Here is my suggestion for the second design.  It comes from MJT, number 2248, GWR short OK oil axlebox spring J hanger. 5&9 Lantern brake looks similar to the earlier design, but a bit more elongated. billbedford
Wizard Models do castings of axleboxes and springs for six wheeled carriages complete with the two lengths of J hangers. They are listed as MR so you may nead to change the axleboxes.
RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted November 13, 2011 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2011 Thanks for your help. I will follow up the suggestions. Don't hold your breath for photos of the finished models though. I may put up some pictures of 1870s RR wagons i am building, though.
